What is Chiropractic?

"While other professions are concerned with changing the environment to suit the weakened body, Chiropractic is concerned with strengthening the body to suit the environment." - B.J. Palmer, D.C.

A Natural Method of Health Care

Simply stated. Chiropractic is an extension of the healing arts and as a science is based on the belief that optimal health depends, in large part, upon a normally functioning nervous system. Chiropractic is a natural and drugless method of health care.

Chiropractic teaches that within the body there are Innate survival mechanisms designed to maintain a state of good health. This Innate health is working in your body continually.

The spinal cord has thirty-one pairs of spinal nerves which exit from the spinal column. The most important organs of the nervous system, the brain and spinal cord, are surrounded by a hard bony covering composed of the skull and spinal vertebrae. Irritation to the nervous system may occur when the spinal bio-mechanics are compromised and thus not functioning properly.

When the body's structures such as cells and organs are functioning optimally, a state of health or more specifically, normal physiology is said to exist. Similarly, when the body's physiology is abnormal, a disease state begins. Therefore, we can understand that abnormal physiology may lead to abnormal body function which will precede disease processes.

Chiropractic is a natural and drugless method of correcting most flaws in the bio-mechanics of the spinal column such as subluxations in order to restore healthy nervous system functions and restore good health and well being.
